Livers are like Lizards

Howdy All-

Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers and positive vibes too!  They are working!

As many of you know, I haven’t been feeling well since August. Mainly tired, nauseous and little appetite.  I met with the liver specialist today and he was fantastic. He has decided that I need to have surgery to remove the hepatic adenoma (small benign growth on my liver)  They believe it was caused by oral birth control which I was taking for my ovarian cyst.

Like I said, the doctor and his team were fantastic. They spent a lot of time explaining everything, answered questions and in the end said God is watching out for you, I agree! I am very lucky to have found this now and have it removed because he said one of the common complications is for it to rupture during pregnancy.

So I have a laparoscopic (good news) liver surgery scheduled for Tuesday, October 28 at Methodist Hospital in Dallas (off 30 just west of downtown at Beckley) I have to be there at 9:30am, but the surgery will start around noon.

Interesting fact: They said you can remove up to 75% of your liver and it will regenerate. Crazy. They aren’t taking that much, but good to know that the liver is spunky :) Livers are like lizards.

We will keep you posted! Feel free to pass this along, I’m sure I missed people that are wondering what’s up!

Love,
Jess (and Zach too!)
